WebSTAR/AISS Serial Number Snafu: Under this title, Eric Zelenka of StarNine posted an online letter to new Apple Internet Server 3.0 customers with advice for receiving a working serial number (software key):
"WebSTAR Users, It appears that a snafu occurred in the issuing of serial numbers to Apple for the AISS 3.0 bundle. If you have recently purchased the Apple Internet Server Solution bundle and have received a bad serial number please take a trip to http://www.starnine.com/support/aiss.html. Once there you can find a temporary serial number that is good through July. Starting July 7th, or soon thereafter, StarNine will be issuing new serial numbers to each of the effected AISS users. Please check back to our web site, or contact support@starnine.com for more information on receiving your correct permanent serial number."

Attention! WebSTAR and Mac OS are 'Most Requested': Due to efforts here (see the Netcraft Voting Page), and thanks in particular to thousands from Apple's Internet mailing lists, particularly macway, almost all of the sites on Netcraft's Most Requested list are Mac OS WebSTAR servers, and several of the rest are Mac OS. Tell your friends!
Announcements: Acme Technologies announces the availability of MondoMail Pro, an SMTP email engine that will send mail from scriptable applications like Tango, FileMaker Pro, WebSTAR CGI's, AppleScripts, and Frontier. See the MondoMail pages for downloads and more info. (B.rad's Acme Tech listing)
Mac OS ISP Report: Bennie Warren of LemooreNet posted some info about his new Mac OS Internet Service Provider, starting with a note about the reaction he gets when people find out he is using Mac OS:
(B.rad's LemooreNet listing)We have [definitely] told many people and they are very surprised. I am very happy with my ascend max4004 with 6x12modem cards. I use 5 macintosh 7600/132 with 80mb ram. Computer A = QuickDNS Pro Computer B = MacRadius Computer C = WebStar and Webten Computer D = EIMS Computer E = Maintenance Probably overkill but it all works flawlessly. People are extremely happy compared with the other providers, who by the way use only unix. We have been open for 2.5 months and have close to 350 users. We grow by about 5 per day. I am extremely happy. So yes it can be done. BennieFree Stuff: Bryan Christianson's terrific WhatRoute tool for Mac OS (Open Transport only) is a must-have for webmasters and Internet savants. See the WhatRoute site.
